Djukic to be confirmed as Valencia boss

Miroslav Djukic is set to be confirmed as the new Valencia coach after meeting with club officials.

The Serbian, who announced last week he was stepping down as Real Valladolid boss, will replace Ernesto Valverde who left Valencia after it narrowly missed out on UEFA Champions League football on the final day of the Spanish season.

The 47-year-old will be formally presented on Wednesday, but told Marca he was looking forward to returning to the club where he played from 1997 to 2003.

"There is a good squad here who can achieve great things," he said. "To me, it's a dream to come to Valencia. This is home to me, and I have always regarded it as so."

Djukic had been at Valladolid since 2011, guiding it to promotion and then securing its top-flight status with a 14th-place finish this season.

Man Utd & Arsenal Linked With Adil Rami

Valencia centre back Adil Rami is thought to be a summer transfer target of both Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Gunners have been long term admirers of Rami and on various occasions in the past he has been linked with a move to north London.

And with the 27-year-old recently conceding that he "needs to play for a big club in Europe", a transfer to England could happen sooner rather than later.

Manchester United are thought to have joined Arsenal as possible homes for the Valencia star next season, according to the Spanish press.

Rami has a contract until 2015, but would be keen on a move to the Premier League with United and Arsenal set to be in the market for a central defender.

"I'm not going to Anzhi Makhachkala, even though I had a good proposition from this team," revealed Rami.

"I have not had my last word on the France team and I will consider this factor when choosing my future. England? Maybe. I need to be at a big club in Europe."

Champions League: Valencia v Bayern Munich

Mauricio Pellegrini’s side set themselves up for this tie in perfect fashion with a 2-1 win over Espanyol at the weekend and they could qualify for the knockout stages at group leaders with a win on Tuesday night at Mestalla.

Bayern failed to beat Nurnberg in their weekend fixture but they did rest French winger Frank Ribery and even without the injured Arjen Robben, the Germans are a force to be reckoned with.

Valencia will be without Fernando Gago who suffered an injury during the build-up of Argentina’s recent friendly but Jonathan Viera who scored against Espanyol will be hoping to keep his place.

Pellegrino once again has to choose between Brazilian keeper Diego Alves and Spaniard Vicente Guaita.

Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes is likely make changes with Ribery coming in and Thomas Muller will be hoping to start the game ahead of Toni Kroos.

Anatoliy Tymoshchuk is unlikely to feature following a poor performance against Nurnberg, whilst Brazilian tough tackler Luis Gustavo will return.

Valencia: Alves, Pereira, Ricardo Costa, Rami, Cissokho, Viera, Costa, Feghouli, Jonas, Guardado, Soldado

Bayern: Neuer, Lahm, Badstuber, Dante, Alaba , Gustavo, Schweinsteiger, Shaqiri, Muller, Ribery, Pizarro
