Kevin-Prince Boateng agreed a €50,000 fine for Roma was not enough against racism, but insisted “there cannot be a Milan without Massimiliano Allegri.”
The Rossoneri star sat down for a Google+ Hangout this evening, fielding questions from fans and teammates all over the world.
He was asked about the fact Milan-Roma was suspended for two minutes due to racist chanting and FIFA President Sepp Blatter’s complaint a €50,000 fine was ‘unacceptable.’
“What happened on Sunday was really sad. A fine isn’t enough, I’m sorry for Roma the club and their fans, but in my view it is too small a figure.
“I spoke to the referee and asked if he could hear the monkey noises. He said yes and the next time he heard them, he’d suspend the match. He made a courageous choice. It is important to fight these things.”
Boateng has by his own admission not had a great campaign.
“The fans applauded me against Barcelona, now they are jeering. I do understand them, as they see a player with the Number 10 jersey at Milan who only scored three goals. It has been a difficult season for me.
“There is also criticism of Stephan El Shaarawy, but that’s just crazy. He scored so many goals and really helps the team. In football you must look beyond goals and assists, as Stephan gives a big helping hand in defence. In my view, he is Milan’s player of the season.
“Many told me Mario Balotelli was mad, but instead he’s a great professional as well as a great player.”
The newspapers are full of speculation that President Silvio Berlusconi wants to sack Allegri, but Boateng firmly put himself on the tactician’s side.
“He did great work in these three years and needs to stay. In my view, there cannot be a Milan without Allegri.
“Next year we have to do better, as there were so many new players this time. We need to work together so we can win the Scudetto.”
The Ghanaian also chatted to his Milan teammates during the Google Hangout.
“Before a game I listen to hip hop music, as that fires me up. When getting changed I always put the right boot on first. My best goal was against Barcelona.
“My agent is the person who most influenced me in my career. He taught me the psychological aggression that I put on to the field.”
Antonio Nocerino, Luca Antonini and M’Baye Niang asked “why did you put a banana split on your head?” referring to the new blond look.
Boateng laughed and replied: “I like to change hairstyle. Next time I’ll dye my hair red.”
Teammate El Shaarawy also took part, asking Boa to do an impersonation of Coach Allegri.
“I collect many jerseys, but I have only four on my wall – Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.”
