Fellaini dyes hair silver for fans

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has dyed his famous hair silver following the fundraising efforts of the club's fans.

The Belgian promised supporters that he would change the colour of his curly locks if they donated £25,000 to the team's official charity Everton in the Community by March 16.

"I think it looks great, but it is only for one day because I don't think the manager will like it quite as much as me," Fellaini is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

Everton in the Community are aiming to raise £1m in what is their 25th year.

Moyes hopes to keep Fellaini

Everton manager David Moyes hopes Marouane Fellaini will still be at Goodison Park next season, amid more speculation over the big Belgian's future.

Fellaini's future at Everton has been the subject of speculation with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United credited with an interest in the midfield powerhouse.

Everton could face a fight to keep hold of the influential midfielder this summer after another impressive campaign on Merseyside.

However, Moyes sees Fellaini as a big part of his plans and wants to see him stay at Everton.

"He is a big part of our squad not only because of his size but also because of how important he is to us and he is someone that we will be more than happy to see here again next year at Goodison," Moyes told Yahoo Sport.

Meanwhile, Moyes admits Everton will find it hard to replace Phil Neville when he quits the club at the end of the season and he expects the Toffees captain to move into coaching at some point in his career.

"He has been really influential," added Moyes. "He has been a great captain and a great player since he joined us eight years ago and will be missed. He has been someone that I can rely on both on and off the pitch.

"I have got no doubt that he will go on to work in football and he is someone who we will miss. It will be a hard position to fill because the way he has captained the team has been excellent over the years.

"Phil will be a success in whatever he does in life because he conducts himself well and is very articulate but if I was a betting man I would say that his next step after playing would be coaching."

Fellaini knee injury worse than thought

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini will be out for three weeks with a knee injury, according to the Belgian Football Association.

The 24-year-old picked up the knock in Saturday's English Premier League game against Wigan, but nevertheless travelled to meet up with his national team who faces matches against Serbia and Scotland in the coming days.

A scan has shown the injury is worse than first thought, though, and he now faces a period on the sidelines.

A statement on the Belgian FA's website read: "Fellaini suffered a small tear at the juncture of muscle and tendon in the knee. The injury was revealed during a scan.

"Fellaini was injured last Saturday during the match between his club Everton and Wigan Athletic. He will be out three weeks.

"It has been agreed with his club Everton FC he will rehabilitate in Belgium during this period."

Fellaini set to escape punishment

Everton are unlikely to punish Marouane Fellaini for comments he made suggesting that he wanted to leave Goodison Park next year.

Fellaini, 24, was quoted in Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad as saying: "I am just starting my fifth season at Everton; this will be one of my last. I have seen everything. In January, or at the end of the season, I will turn to another club or championship.''

Everton officials are believed to have expressed disappointment at the midfielder's remarks and said there had been no previous indication that he was looking to move. He signed a new five-year deal at Goodison Park in November.

The Belgium international midfielder, who scored the winner against Manchester United in Everton's first game of the season, is thought likely to have to explain the comments to manager David Moyes, but will not be fined.

Although he did not deny having made the remarks reported in Het Nieuwsblad, he wrote on his Facebook page: "I was very surprised to read in some newspapers that I will leave Everton very soon and perhaps next January.

"Let me remind you that I am very happy in Liverpool and our start of the championship was good. Kevin Mirallas and some other good players joined us to make a better squad.

"So with Everton, I am ready to play all the season and to reach our goals of this season.'"

Fellaini joined Everton in a £15 million move from Standard Liege in 2008, and has scored 22 goals in 130 appearances.
