Fiorentina calm over Jovetic

Fiorentina sports director Daniele Prade has stated that the club have not made Stevan Jovetic available for transfer.

However, he has reiterated the club's position that he could leave if their asking price of €30million (£25.7m), cash only, is met.

Juventus were quick to make contact over Jovetic and are believed to have offered players plush cash for the Montenegrin, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United.

Prade, though, is adamant that Fiorentina are happy for Jovetic to remain at the club.

"Stevan is not on the market. There is a promise made by the president [Andrea Della Valle] to him, that he can leave him if we get an offer of €30million cash," he told Corriere dello Sport

"If not we'd gladly keep him. Jovetic has not said he wants to go away, it's a subject that will have to do with him and the president.

"There have not been offers, we only met the player's agent Ramadani. The president has not authorised me to speak with Juventus, it is up to the president to decide."

As well as Jovetic, his team-mate Adem Ljajic was linked with a move to his former club United.

But Prade says they are in talks with the young Serb over a new contract, and he added: "The Ljajic contract, we'll discuss with the agent in the coming days."

The Fiorentina chief did confirm that they are hoping to conclude a deal for Malaga winger Joaquin.

"There is a negotiation with Malaga, we'll talk this week with them to try to close the deal," he said.

Fiorentina line up Iakovenko bid

Italian daily Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Fiorentina are considering a summer swoop for Anderlecht forward Oleksandr Iakovenko.

Considering that Stevan Jovetic could leave the club at the end of the season and with Luca Toni nearing the end of his career, Viola are looking to reinforce the attack in the summer transfer window.

Il Corriere dello Sport has revealed that the Artemio Franchi outfit are lining up a bid for Anderlecht forward Oleksandr Iakovenko.

Iakovenko, 25, began his career at Metalist Kharkiv, but quickly moved to Lierse and has been playing in Belgium ever since.

He made a switch to Anderlecht in 2008 and has been showing a lot of potential playing for the Belgian giants.

Interesting thing is the Ukrainian forward has not been able to establish himself as a first team regular at Constant Vanden Stock, but, nonetheless, managed to score 7 league goals this season.

No City agreement for Jovetic

Fiorentina have denied that they have any agreement in place with Manchester City over the possible future transfer of forward Stevan Jovetic.

The 22-year-old was linked with a summer move to the Premier League champions, with Juventus also reported to be keen on the Montenegro international.

However, Jovetic eventually stayed in Florence, and Viola sporting director Daniele Prade has rejected talks of his departure in January.

"Jovetic's buy-out clause? I want to close this issue once and for all," he told La Nazione. "What we will do, will be done in a transparent way.

"So when there will be news about Jovetic's contract, we will notify it in an official manner.

"A pre-arrangement with Manchester City? The Della Valle family (Fiorentina owners) has excellent relations with City but there is no preliminary contracts with anyone.

"Jo-Jo is our player and he will be at least until the end of the season."

Fiorentina technical director Eduardo Macia, though, admitted that Jovetic will be sold eventually.

"It will be very difficult to keep him at Fiorentina, he is a great player, who will eventually play for another club," he told Todomercadoweb.es.

"For us his situation is similar to that of Steven Gerrard for Liverpool. This summer we decided that Jovetic was not on the market and he understood it perfectly despite Juventus' offer."

Toni hoping for Fiorentina revival

After a disappointing stay in the UAE with Al Nasr, veteran Italian striker Luca Toni is prefering to look forward and not back.

The 35-year-old made a shock return to former club Fiorentina on transfer deadline after an ill-fated six month spell in the Emirates with Nasr ended in his release back in July.

Brought in on a free transfer from Juventus last January, Toni initially spoke of having refound his appetite for the game in Dubai and his hopes of firing the club to a first league title since 1986.

However, Toni struggled for both form and fitness during his stay with Nasr which restricted him to just seven Pro League appearances, and three goals.

But having put his unhappy spell at the Maktoum Stadium behind him, he is now looking forward to rediscovering the form which saw him become Serie A's most feared marksmen during his first spell at the Artemio Franchi.

Toni scored 47 Serie A goals in just 67 appearances in his two years with Fiorentina between 2005 and 2007 and is looking to reach those heights again for Vincenzo Montella's men.

"I cannot wait to get back on the field and make the fans happy," he told the Corriere dello Sport. "I am glad to be back, I had my most beautiful years here. I want to start where I left off. I think we can play some good football this year. It is a great project."

The 2006 World Cup winner added: "I have trained well and feel fine. I have put myself at the disposal of the coach and only he can decide if I play.

"The Catania game will be very difficult because they are a strong group. They have a settled squad, whereas we are a new team."

Fiorentina confirm interest Lyon striker

Fiorentina have moved to confirm their interest in Lyon striker Lisandro Lopez.

The Serie A side have made a number of high-profile signings in the summer transfer window, but they were unable to sign a quality centre forward, which was one of their priorities.

Viola narrowly missed out on Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov, but they are already looking towards the January transfer window.

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has revealed the club are keen on Lyon star Lisandro Lopez.

“This is a great player, a modern striker. We are following (him). But, I won’t say anything else,” Prade confessed to La Nazione.

Fiorentina chiefs have gone the extra mile to keep hold of star striker Stevan Jovetic and believe Lisandro Lopez would be able to establish a fruitful partnership with the Montenegrin forward.

The Argentine is reportedly considering his options, meaning he could be open to a Serie A switch.

The 29-year-old joined Lyon in a €24 million move from Porto in August 2009 and has since bagged 49 goals in 91 Ligue 1 appearances for les Gones.

Aquilani out for two weeks

Fiorentina says midfielder Alberto Aquilani will be out for two weeks with an Achilles injury.

Aquilani was expected to make his first start for Fiorentina against Catania this weekend.

However, Fiorentina says he visited a specialist in London on Monday and is expected to be sidelined for a further two weeks.

Aquilani, who spent last season on loan at AC Milan, has made two substitute appearances for Fiorentina since signing from Liverpool in the off-season.

Man City agree Nastasic fee - report

Manchester City have agreed a fee with Fiorentina for defender Matija Nastasic.

A deal has been struck for a reported £12million and the transfer could see Stefan Savic move in the opposite direction after failing to fulfil expectations at the Etihad Stadium.

Nastasic, a Serbia international team-mate of Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic, has long been linked with City and they will now push for an agreement on personal terms and a medical before Friday's deadline.

The 19-year-old only joined Partisan Belgrade last summer but he has made 25 appearances for the Italian club as they finished 13th in the 2011/12 Serie A.

City boss Roberto Mancini will hope Nastasic will prove a suitable improvement on Savic, who has endured a difficult time since moving to England in July 2011.

A fee of £6m was paid to Partisan but the 21-year-old has made just five Premier League starts for England's reigning champions.
