Official: Carlo Ancelotti to leave PSG

Carlo Ancelotti will not be the Paris St Germain coach next season, Qatar-owned television channel BeIN Sport reported on Sunday.

"Carlo Ancelotti will not be the PSG coach next season. He met (club president Nasser al-Khelaifi) and (sporting director) Leonardo this afternoon in Paris for more than an hour," BeIN Sport, who have television rights for Ligue 1, said on their Twitter feed.

Italian Ancelotti joined PSG, who are owned by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), in December 2011, leading them to their first French league title since 1994 last weekend.

PSG were not immediately available for comment.

Ancelotti ducked questions about his future on Friday, saying he had not made his decision then.

Earlier this week, Al-Khelaifi told Reuters that he had turned down a Real Madrid move to hire Ancelotti.

"They (Real) came and I discussed it with them. He's got a contract with us for one more year...for me, he's here next year," Al-Khelaifi said on Monday.

Ancelotti, 53, won league titles with PSG, AC Milan and Chelsea, also taking the Italian club to the Champions League title in 2003 and 2007.

His contract at PSG was automatically renewed by one year until June next year when the club secured a Champions League spot for next season.

Ancelotti: Beckham could stay

Paris St Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti would welcome the opportunity to extend David Beckham's short-term contract.

Beckham arrived in France amid much fanfare in January, signing a deal which is due to run until the end of the season.

He is now 37 years of age and has spent much of the last five years away from Europe in the American MLS.

The former England captain has, however, not looked out of place at a club pushing hard for the Ligue 1 title and readying themselves for a UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

Ancelotti sees no reason why Beckham could not play on past the end of the current campaign, and hopes he can be convinced to prolong his stay in the French capital.

He said: "I would really like Beckham to extend his contract but, once again, it's a decision the player has to take in agreement with the club. But I'm in favour of it."

Beckham has faced criticism from some quarters for heading to China during the recent international break as part of an ambassadorial role, but Ancelotti claims the veteran midfielder headed to the Far East with PSG's blessing.

He added: "If he went to China, it's because everyone agreed that he could go. There's no problem. Not for me, not for the club, not for the players. I also agreed.

"I didn't understand that debate provoked by his trip. He had commitments before signing for PSG. Some had a holiday, he went to China."

Silva set to make his debut with PSG

Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has declared that Thiago Silva 'is ready' to make his debut for his new club.

Signed from AC Milan over the summer for 40 million euros, the Brazilian has still yet to make his bow for the French side due to an injury he sustained while representing Brazil at the London Olympics.

However, Ancelotti plans to select him for PSG's opening UEFA Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev next Tuesday.

The former Milan tactician is also expected to give a debut to new signing Gregory van der Wiel.

"Van der Wiel and Thiago Silva will be ready against Kiev," Ancelotti said on Thursday ahead of PSG's Ligue 1 clash with Toulouse.

"(Silva) has been working hard on his own to recover but he will work with the team on Saturday. We have been very careful with him, because he injured himself at the Olympics. We wanted to take our time with him and ease him back."

Van der Wiel moved to the French capital from Ajax after signing a four-year deal and was unveiled to the press on Thursday.

PSG have been drawn in Champions League Group A with Kiev, FC Porto and Dinamo Zagreb.
