Eto'o: Song not among the best players in Cameroon

Anzhi Makhachkala striker Samuel Eto'o has reopened his rift with fellow Cameroonian Alex Song by claiming the Barcelona midfielder is not even among the best players in their country - let alone the world.

The two players have endured a strained relationship in the past, with Song having refused to shake hands with Eto'o ahead of an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Senegal in 2011.

Song, who joined Barca from Arsenal in the summer, was fined a reported £1,200 by Cameroon for the incident.

The pair had appeared to make peace but Eto'o suggested there is still tension when asked if there was a dispute between the "two stars".

"We are not involved in a conflict between two star players," Eto'o told Canal Plus.

"I am among the best players in the world and Song is not even among the best players in Cameroon."

OFFICIAL: Anzhi sign Lassana Diarra

Anzhi Makhachkala completed the signing of Lassana Diarra from Real Madrid on Tuesday with a four-year deal.

The 27-year-old former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder completed a permanent switch to the big-spending Russian outfit alongside Nikita Burmistrov, who has joined from Amkar Perm.

"The signings of these footballers totally correspond to the strategy of our club achieving top aims," Anzhi chief executive Ayvaz Kaziakhmedo told the club's official website. "We are confident that, together with Lassana and Nikita, the club will fight for the most prestigious titles."

The experienced midfielder joins a host of high-profile names, including Samuel Eto'o, Christopher Samba and Yuri Zhirkov, in the ranks of the ambitious Dagestan club.

Diarra spent three-and-a-half seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu after joining from Portsmouth in January 2009.

The France international had also been a summer transfer target for AC Milan, who opted to sign Nigel de Jong from Manchester City instead.
